Maitre d’s
One thing I’ve noticed in a couple of restaurants lately is that the maitre d’s walk very slowly. So slowly that I almost can’t walk slow enough to follow them without stepping on them. At first I thought they were just tired or lazy, but then I figured it out.
Sometimes you feel like a nut . . .
For background, I must explain what evidently prompted this. In my Town Car, when you remove the key, the radio keeps playing until you open the door. This can be very handy if you want to finish listening to a song, but don’t want to leave the car running. Also, I have the numeric keypad, and the code to lock the door is the same on pretty much all of them. You may know where I’m headed with this …Before training today, I was finishing listening to a song on my iPod in the Crown Victoria I have as a rental car. In this car, you have to leave the key turned to listen to the radio, so I just left the car running. After my song was finished, I took my iPod, exited the car, and hit the door lock code. Oops.
I turn, you turn, we all turn for U-turns.
One thing that I found unusual when I moved to Tucson was the number of U-turns people make. Not only do people make many U-turns, but they even have things like "U-turn only" and "U-turn and left turn only" signs, that would be very unusual in most other locations.
Stuck in bad coffeeville
Well, I'm at training in Minneapolis, as you should know if you've been keeping up. To my horror, this morning, I discovered that not only did the hotel I was at have normally bad hotel coffee, it was much worse than the average hotel coffee.
