Temperance
I’ve been reading through Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis. The book is an attempt to delineate the core tenants of Christianity that should be in common throughout all denominations, no matter what differences they have. It’s one of Lewis’s most famous works, and many popular C. S. Lewis quotes come from this book.
Selfishness
We were getting in the car to come home after our Maundy Thursday worship service when a young man came into the parking lot looking for a ride. One of his friends was supposed to pick him up and didn’t show up or answer his phone.
Stricken, Smitten, and Afflicted
At our Maundy Thursday service at church, we sang “Stricken, Smitten, and Afflicted.” I’d heard of this song growing up, or at least I noticed it in a hymnal at some point; but I’d never sang it or paid much attention to the words until we first sang it awhile back at my current church.
Hatred? I don’t think so.
There’s a certain combination of bumper stickers that really annoys me. The first one says “Hate is not a family value” and it is accompanied by either a rainbow sticker, or a rainbow sticker that says something like “diversity is our strength,” both indicating that homosexuality is what they have in mind.
