Customers of Size

This is one of the funniest things I’ve read in a while. I could spout off about the affects of political correctness, but I think that this is done tongue in cheek, although they wouldn’t want to admit that to the ACLU or whatever. For those confused, the title is what gets me. I don’t think I’ll ever call anyone fat again. Persons of size it is.

On another note, I applaud Southwest for implementing this policy. File it under the heading of “do the crime, do the time”. I, for one, don’t want to be engulfed in the folds from a person of size on my next airplane flight. It only makes sense that if you use the resources of two people, you should be required to pay for it.And don’t forget to check out the FAQ’s.

Okay, maybe I’m just brainless at the moment . . . It is just after midnight in the States (don’t tell anyone I’m on the opposite side of the world, so I can’t use this excuse) . . .but was there an article to go with this comment? If there was an article, where is it? Take pity on me, and tell me what I’m missing here.

For those of you who had trouble recognizing the links, I have changed the formatting so that the links are now underlined. Maybe this will make a little more sense now.

As a person who is larger than typical married to a person who is larger than typical, I will say that we make a point to reserve seats ahead of time (obviously not an option on Southwest because they don’t do seat assignments).  Any time we’re on a plane with only 2 seats on one side, we make a point to reserve those seats.  We do put the armrest between us up because it allows more room.  Also, many people don’t know this, but the armrest that’s against the side of the airplane will typically go up.  There’s a little hidden button to push to put it up.  That dramatically increases the amount of hip room.

Ah, I found your little tip on the side armrest to be rather interesting. I didn’t know that. As you know, I like having weird facts in my brain.
