Food City

There’s a chain of cut rate grocery stores in Arizona called Food City (I don’t know if they’re in other states or not). Adina and I went to one near us one time to see what it was like. We weren’t terribly impressed with it, but one can put up with a bit for good prices. Then we got to the meat section. The meat was all packaged up, but sitting on shelves that were covered in rotting blood. It stunk pretty bad. We decided not to go back.

Today I got a pamphlet in the mail from a group called La Union de mi Gente (Babel Fish translation: The Union of my People). They inspected 52 food city stores and found that 29 of them were selling expired baby formula. I’m not an expert on the subject, but I believe that’s what’s commonly known as “a bad thing.”

Needless to say, this hasn’t kindled any sort of desire to return to Food City.
