Do they have Maitre d’s at Burger King and Denny’s? I don’t know if I’ve ever been to a place that has one of them mater dees or not.

Maitre d’s
One thing I’ve noticed in a couple of restaurants lately is that the maitre d’s walk very slowly. So slowly that I almost can’t walk slow enough to follow them without stepping on them. At first I thought they were just tired or lazy, but then I figured it out.
At some of these restaurants (I first noticed it at Claim Jumper in Tucson) there are a large number of elderly clients. The speed at which the maitre d’s walk seems to be especially tailored for these clients. I guess they only have one speed, and they figure it’s best to make someone wait for you than to lose them on the way to their table.

Wow. I just noticed that the dates on my last two posts are listed as tomorrow. I didn’t think I was that fast. The time on the server must be messed up, so I’ll see if it can be fixed.
They DO have mater dees at Cracker Barrel, though. Interesting, since the whole look and feel is supposedly “old-fashioned.” Pretty high style for a place with a bunch of old people chairs out front.

Also, Texas Roadhouse has a mater dee - actually several. I think the point of them leading you to a table is so you don’t accidentally step in something.

The KingofPop says, “at ease.”
