Name Calling
I believe that the Republican party and President Bush have some serious problems they have brought upon themselves, which could very well put the Democrats back in control of Congress this election. Will I vote for any of these Democrats? Probably not, as I find them even scarier than the Republicans currently in power.
What really annoys me, though, is how the moderate-to-liberal media (I don’t suffer from the delusion that they are all liberals like many conservatives do) attack the Republicans, and especially Bush.
Sometimes they actually focus on bad policy decisions, and those are the kind of articles that are useful. Even these articles, however, are peppered with much less useful “arguments:” name calling.
Conservatives are often guilty of the same thing, but they don’t seem to have as much of a voice in the media (except when they’re being complained about). In the New York Times, however, you can find entire articles devoted to what amounts to glorified name calling.
I find that type of dialog completely useless, whether it comes from liberals or conservatives (which is why I also don’t listen to types like Rush Limbaugh anymore).
Grow up people.
