Ultimate Comfort Shaving Cream
Truefitt & Hillmore product info
I've tried several different shaving creams since I started using more traditional shaving methods, and this one is definitely the best. Some were good, some were mediocre, but this one is fantastic.
With this shaving cream (and a badger hair brush and Merkur safety razor), I've been able to get closer shaves than with any of the other products I've tried. This cream makes a nice, thick lather without having to work too hard, and makes shaving almost a pleasant experience. Some of my recent attempts have included Taylor of Old Bond Street (pretty good), and Proraso (cheap). The Proraso refuses to make a good lather unless you use too much product and work at it for way too long.
I've even found that this is better than other Truefitt & Hill cream that I've tried, even though it seems to be just about the same ingredients. They must have modified the formula just enough to give it exactly what it needs. With the other stuff, I used a combination of soap and cream, but have found that this isn't necessary with the Ultimate Comfort variety. Not only is the shave close, but it's extremely comfortable even after a second pass. This cream also has the advantage of being unscented, which is good for Adina since she didn't like any of the other scents I've tried. It has a little bit of lavender scent due to the use of lavender oil, but it's barely noticed.
Now, this tub of cream seems a bit expensive at first. The Proraso is half the price for the same weight. However, the Proraso requires about twice the product to make a decent lather, so the price comes out pretty close in the end.
